Abdul Waheed Wain was a self-made leading businessman of Sargodha. Born on 14 august 1928, he spent his early years in Bhopal, where his father worked as a Legal Counsel. His father’s death in 1946 and migration to Pakistan after partition, were life transforming events for him.

In arapidly aging population globally, our youthful population is anasset. However, with high unemployment amongst the educated youth, alack of competitive edge in skills and an alarming incidence ofstunted growth in our children, this very asset can easily become aliability.

The Wain Foundation and the i2c inc, itself a youthdominated company, are committed to channelizing energies of theyouth towards constructive and productive activities. They areconvinced that our youth has the potential to be agents of change andself-reliance in Pakistan. We have an impressive pool of talentedyouth in Pakistan who are looking for opportunities and facilities totransform their innovative ideas into successful enterprises. TheWain Foundation in collaboration with the University of Sargodha hasestablished Waheed Wain Incubation Center with state of the artfacilities aimed at stimulating spirit of entrepreneurship, givingfree rein to innovation, and unleashing forward looking ideas tonurture successful businesses. The WWIC is a pioneering collaborativeeffort between a private sector company and public sector university.The incubation center opens doors of opportunities for youngentrepreneurs by providing a platform where new ideas can blossom,through dedicated coaching, professional mentorship, andcommercialization support. It also offers networking opportunities,access to potential investors and venture capitalists and help inscaling up of startups. The WWIC basically seeks to help the youngentrepreneurs in transforming their dreams into realities.

WWIC offers
  • Custom-built state of the art facilities in a safe and secure environment of the University in center of the city.
  • Most modern equipment, including computers, networking equipment, high speed Internet, conference rooms with online conference facilities, LED displays, sound bars etc.
  • Offices, meeting rooms, co-labs, product display facilities and workstations, all fully equipped and furnished to provide an excellent work environment.
  • Dedicated and professionally trained staff to coach the incubatees in-line with a carefully developed syllabus and work-plan.
  • External resources comprising experts in various fields of business development/entrepreneurship are engaged for lectures.
  • Representatives from industry, the Chambers of Commerce and related government regulatory authorities, are also invited for talks.
  • Potential investors/venture capitalists are introduced to the incubatees who are assisted in negotiating agreements from the legal point.

    My startup focuses on improving English language proficiency for competitive exams such as CSS and PMS. When I joined this incubation center, I initially expected to work on my project alone. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that we operate as a community here, with people coming together to discuss various issues and collaboratively find solutions.

    Engaging the global target audience!

    My startup is about creating and selling NFTs, and a notable challenge I faced was that my target audience is not limited to local areas but extends internationally. Initially, I lacked the knowledge on how to reach and explore this global market. However, the trainers and mentors played a vital role in guiding me to devise effective strategies for reaching and engaging the global target audience.

I heard about this healthcare facility and decided to visit to see if they could help. The dispensary and the staff there are incredibly caring and supportive. They prioritise and care for every patient, providing them with the necessary medicines.

    Education is every child’s right!

    I believe that education is every child’s right regardless of gender. I am a daily wager and for me to put food on the table and bear any medical expense is more than what I can afford. The Wain Foundation gave us this opportunity otherwise it was almost impossible to send my children to school.

    Working in high-end hospitals has never quenched my thirst for being able bring change in the society, but now that I am working for Wain Foundation, I feel so satisfied that my pledge is put in utilization in helping the ones in need.

Abdul Waheed Wain was a self-made leading businessman of Sargodha. Born on 14 august 1928 he spent his early years in Bhopal, where his father worked as a Legal Consul. His father’s death in 1946 and migration to Pakistan after partition, were life transforming events for him. Undaunted by the challenging times, Waheed and his brother Rashid Wain started a modest business in Sargodha, where the Wain family had decided to settle. Sheer hard work, excellent customer relations and ethical business practices, paid off and the business prospered. Waheed Wain later branched off and established another outlet, Mehwar Electronics. He quickly transformed it into the busiest and most trusted name in electronics and big brand dealership, in and around Sargodha. Expansion to other major cities was there for the asking but Waheed chose to follow his heart, preferring contentment over monetary gains. He remained rooted in Sargodha till he lost his epic battle against cancer, in September 2012.

Waheed Wain was generosity, kindness, contentment and empathy personified. He measured success not in terms of financial gains but in the number of lives he touched and transformed. He never hoarded success and shared it generously, giving credit for it to others. He was epitome of honesty and integrity, and his word was as good as a legal document. In his own way he was very progressive in outlook and readily gave space to others to grow and prosper. Despite his own successes and the stellar achievements of his son, Amir Wain, CEO of i2c Pakistan Pvt Limited, Waheed Wain remained humble and unassuming. Waheed Wain celebrated life in his own way with a child-like capacity to enjoy simple things in life. Always a generous philanthropist, he helped individuals and organizations quietly without hurting anyone's dignity or self-respect. He always encouraged and financially supported his wife, Begum Tahira Waheed Wain, in her social welfare projects relating to women education and economic empowerment, free healthcare for the underprivileged communities, and garbage collection and disposal.
